Abstract

Several experiments were conducted to investigate the growth and flowering characteristics such as seed germination, photosynthesis and floral morphology of Campanula takesimana Nakai which grows wild in Ullungdo island, Korea. It began to blower on June 5 in Suwon, with 15 days of flowering per stock. In this time, the plant height was about 55 ¡¾ 5 §¯, with about 38 flowering buds per stem. Length and width of corolla were 51.8¡¾4.41 §® and 33.5¡¾3.20 §®. The optimum temperature for seed germination was 25¡É under light condition. Available seed longevity was about one year to two years at 4¡É cold storage condition. Maximum photosynthetic rate appeared at 21¡É under 520 ¥ìmol¡¤m^(-2)¡¤s^(-1) lighting, and dark respiration was raised according to temperature increasing. At 21¡É, the light compensation point showed about 60 ¥ìmol¡¤m^(-2)¡¤s^(-1) lighting and light saturation point did about 1000 ¥ìmol¡¤m^(-2)¡¤s^(-1).
